Mini and Youth Rugby Explained

The Age Grade section of the club is divided into two broad playing groups by age: Mini Rugby and Youth Rugby as described below.
Mini Rugby Under 5's - Under 12's

If your child is between 4 - 11 years old (Age on the 1st September) then they will be in the Fakenham Minis Section.

If you come down to the club during any one of the training or playing sessions one of our administration or coaching staff will be pleased to welcome you. They will explain how the mini section is run. For the minis aged 4 - 11 we suggest the child has a trial period to see if they enjoy mini rugby. Once they've decided there will be some registration forms to complete with your contact details and for RFU Registration and insurance purposes.

Before spending any money on kit, wait until your child has completed a trial period and see if they wish to continue playing. During the trial period we suggest the following clothing:

  • Boots - If your child has some football boots that's great otherwise wear some trainers.
  • Tops - A football or rugby shirt is ideal. If you have a track suit top, fleece or a jumper bring them to keep warm. Also in cold weather a woolly hat is a good idea.
  • Bottoms - Football or rugby shorts. In cold weather bring a track suit or jogging bottoms to keep warm.

Youth Rugby Under 13's - Under 17's

If your child is between 12 - 17 years old then he will be in the Fakenham Youth Section. This section is in a growth phase at present so now is a great time to join.

If your child has not played rugby before we suggest the child has a trial period to see if they enjoy playing rugby. Upon joining there will be some registration forms to complete with your contact details and for RFU Registration and insurance purposes.
