Tribute to Lee Muston by Adrian Stringer

LEE MUSTON

Lee came to Fakenham as Head Teacher in September 1984. The school needed a strong leader – he was the man. Originally from Derby, home of Rolls Royce, he was the human version of that famous marque. A History teacher with a passion for Cricket and Rugby.
He first played for the club, if recollections are accurate, for the 3rd XV away at North Walsham. Lee attended the meeting in 1985 when we agreed to purchase the land we now occupy. He liked the proximity to the school and Trapp Lane was being used for other sports. Irene was Treasurer that season, supporting the club in every way she could, Lee preferring to establish himself in the school and community before taking a Committee position at the club. He first joined the Committee in 1987 also contributing to coaching the players for a number of years, becoming Chairman of Selectors in 1994 and official club coach.
This was a period when the teams experienced considerable success and developed strength in all aspects. By 2000 he became President Elect having served as Vice Chairman for a year previously. He held the position of President for 10 years and four years as Chairman. During this time he was extremely pro-active in taking the club forward seeking grants and funds to resource our development. Lee and Irene were the prime movers in forming the Limited Company which was a major step forward for the club. He also took the role of Sponsorship Manager for three years.
To say he will be missed is an absolute understatement. His contribution to the club and community will be a lasting legacy and everyone who had contact with him will have a positive recollection of this truly wonderful man.
